Kerala PSC Exam Scandal: SIT Demands Documents for Key Posts Investigation (2026)

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has taken a significant step in its probe into alleged malpractices in Kerala's Public Service Commission (PSC) recruitment exams. On Tuesday, the team delivered a letter to the Commission secretary, demanding detailed documents related to the exam conducted for key posts within the Planning Board. This move underscores the team's commitment to uncovering the truth behind the reported irregularities.

The investigators are seeking a comprehensive range of documents, including mark lists, answer sheets, question papers, tabular sheets, and interview mark lists. This extensive request highlights the thoroughness of the SIT's approach, aiming to leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of justice.

IG S Ajeetha Begum, the head of the SIT, met with PSC chairman M R Baiju on Monday to discuss the required documents and seek his cooperation. This meeting was a crucial step in ensuring the smooth progression of the investigation.

The SIT's efforts come in response to the 20 complaints received regarding various PSC recruitment exams. The government initially planned to conduct a vigilance probe but later decided to involve the Crime Branch based on legal advice. This decision was influenced by the legal opinion from the Director General of Prosecution, which emphasized the Crime Branch's specialized role in investigating a wide range of crimes.

The distinction between the vigilance probe and the Crime Branch investigation is significant. While the vigilance probe focuses on offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act, the Crime Branch can investigate a broader spectrum of crimes, providing a more comprehensive approach to addressing the alleged malpractices.

As the SIT continues its work, the public eagerly awaits the outcome of this investigation, hoping for transparency, accountability, and justice. The team's dedication to uncovering the truth behind the reported exam irregularities is a testament to their commitment to ensuring a fair and equitable recruitment process in Kerala.
